2022 site: Stevenage Town Centre

The 2022 competition was based on the live project, the SG1 Stevenage Town Centre regeneration delivered by the Stevenage SG1 Development Team (made up of Stevenage Borough Council and their development partner Mace).

“We chose this project because it has both the scale and complexity that we seek to challenge competitors with as well as being so relevant to the challenges being faced by our sector today,” says Teambuild Trustee Marcel Peeperkorn.

“The project is focused on the Town Centre and how it may be adapted and reimagined in a world of continued hybrid and remote working, increasing energy and utility costs, and the demands of decarbonisation. The contestants were asked to consider these challenges by maximising the economic and cultural impact through a built intervention in the town centre to increase footfall, kickstart a night-time economy, and bring vibrancy to the town.”
