Trustees

Patricia Bessey (Chair)

Patricia started her career in 1986 and is a founding director of Engineroom Architects, which was established in 2011. Engineroom, brings together the disciplines of the Project Manager, Architect, Interior Designer, 3d Visualiser, CAD Technologist, and Brand Strategist to provide clients with a comprehensive two and three-dimensional design service. Patricia’s primary role within the company is as Director and more specifically to manage and monitor projects with a focus on project delivery. Her key involvement is to ensure, through the implementation of correct procedures and management systems, the elimination of contractual issues and conflict wherever possible. Patricia’s range of experience in the public and private sectors ensures that she can lead and deliver functionally efficient environments, excellently designed to align with timescale and budget.

Richard Rooley BA BAI FREng FICE FIMechE FCIBSE, FASHRAE

Richard has been responsible for the design and supervision of construction and maintenance of multi million GB Pound projects in UK and overseas. This included total project management and cross discipline integration of design, construction and operations and maintenance on defence, health, industrial and commercial projects. He acts as an arbitrator and as an expert witness in construction and operations disputes. Based on his experience of causes and risks of failure in building he led the development of TeamBuild competition which has successfully addressed the interface, fuzzy edge disease problems. He has been member of industry committees in UK and America as member, chairman and Society President.

Richard Schofield FRICS FAPM

Richard is a Chartered Project Management Surveyor with over 40 years’ experience on major construction and engineering projects in the UK, Canada and the USA. He has been involved with TeambuildUK since 2004, initially as a judge and currently as a Trustee. After 20 years working overseas, Richard returned to the UK in 1995 and established Rider Hunt Management Services Ltd, a management consultancy specialising in project management, project planning and coordination. He is an experienced workshop facilitator, partnering advisor and trainer and acted as a Heritage Lottery Fund project monitor and advisor for many years. Richard is a past Chairman of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Project Management Professional Group and in 2013 was made an Honorary Fellow of the Association for Project Management.

Marcel Peeperkorn

Marcel is an experienced consultant and advisor, with expertise both in the management and development of physical assets as well as people and organisational management. He holds certifications in Architecture, Client Advisory, Business Administration, and Project Management and has successfully delivered roles across the built environment with empathy and curiosity to learn from all people, technology, and sectors. Educated in commerce [MBA] and design [M.Arch (prof)], Marcel is a firm believer that the strategic integration of business and design thinking results in better solutions, and an improved environment for all. Marcel is currently pursuing a [PhD] in Organisational Change part-time with Hult Ashridge. His core interest lies in human and organisational performance. He is making the inquiry of how to facilitate better decision-making, with the goal of understanding ‘How do we move from cognitive knowing to embodied action?’

Richard Newton

Founder & Director Engineroom architects and interior design consultancy. Richard has many years of commercial property experience having worked with both investors and developers from large institutions to private and public property companies. Across his career, Richard has worked for a number of international property consultancies. He has an in-depth understanding of property risk and works closely with both the architects and designers in developing a greater understanding of occupier and investor requirements.

Working Party

TeamBuild is organised by a Working Party of volunteer construction professionals who have previously taken part in the TeamBuild Competition and support the Trustees in the successful delivery of the annual TeamBuild Competition. Members of the TeamBuild 2019 Working Party are:

Richard Brindley (Chair)

Profession: Chartered Architect
Richard now runs a strategic management consultancy (R Brindley Consult Ltd) working with professional membership bodies and organisations across the UK Construction Industry. Previously he was Executive Director of the RIBA and has extensive experiences in multi-disciplinary practice as an architect. He has been involved with Teambuild for many years as its promoter within the RIBA and as a Team Judge and now chairs the working party.

Rodolfo Leon Urtuzuastegui

Profession: Project Manager (Civil Engineer Background)
Rodolfo is part of the design team for KGX1 “A New Workplace for Google” at Kings Cross, where he represents BDP on the change process of the project. Previously he was construction manager in Mexico, his home country, and has experience working in multi-disciplinary teams in order to deliver public infrastructure projects. He was part of the winning team for the previous Teambuild Competition 2018 and now he is a volunteer for the working party.

Emily Bonner

Profession: Chartered Structural Engineer
Since graduating in 2012, Emily has worked on a wide range of challenging engineering schemes, including stations, stadia and commercial buildings. She is a Chartered Member of the ICE and was a Graduate Member of the ICE Council from 2014 to 2017. Emily was part of the winning team, Strata, at Teambuild 2014 and has been a Member of the Working Party since then.

Diarmuid Barry ICE

Incorporated Civil Engineer
Diarmuid has worked in the UK since 2010 in roles from Graduate Site Engineer to Civils Package Manager. He led numerous graduate development and STEM initiatives including London Graduate Programme Leader, ICE Graduate and Student Committee member, STEM Ambassador and mentor. His team was a finalist in the 2012 Teambuild competition and he has been involved with the Working Party since then.
